Supporting Immigrants

Previously, Sanctuary Cities like Denver allowed non-criminal undocumented individuals to live peacefully in their communities. Under current guidance, foreign nationals, visa holders, permanent residents, and even U.S. Citizens, are being detained and deported by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Being in ICE custody is much like being in prison: uniforms, scheduled meals, limited recreation, and lights-out times. Commissary is available, however much of the items are cost-prohibitive, including tampons which cost $6.95. (You can donate to a general commissary fund by Casa de Paz here.)

People detained by ICE can be moved to any of more than 200 detention centers across the U.S. When they are released from detention, and are not being immediately deported, the detainee is allowed to return to their residence within the U.S. Unfortunately, these people then have to make the trip back to their home by themselves. Under current guidance, these individuals are not allowed to travel by plane, so what was once a 4-hour flight may be a 24-hour+ bus ride. To assist in their journey, we are assembling backpacks with basic toiletries, socks, and shoelaces. We are also putting together snack and entertainment packs.

In March 2025, we donated 9 backpacks with travel toiletries, new socks, and shoelaces. You can read more about our gifts the Casa’s April Newsletter. We are currently collecting books in a variety of languages to support their guest’s journeys.

All profits from our Para Todos sales will be donated to Casa de Paz.
